evad3rs promised to deliver something that not many thought could be possible: The simplest iOS jailbreak in history. Not only that, they also promised that their jailbreak will be untethered and that it would work with any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running the latest version of iOS. Well, it turns out that the team finally released their jailbreak tool and it not only delivers on their promise, but it does so with a tool that is simple and almost perfect at doing what it does. Now, we’ve already shown you in a previous post how to jailbreak your iOS devices, but that method always requires a cable and you need to perform it every time you restart your iOS device. With the evasi0n jailbreaking tool however, you only need to perform this method once and it will remain so even if you restart you iOS device, not requiring any tethered connection at all. Let’s take a look at how to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

What You Need to Know

If you never had a jailbroken iOS device, know that performing this process always poses a potential risk of rendering your device unusable. The risk is almost non-existent of course, but it is there, so proceed at your own risk. Once the jailbreak if done though, your device will be able to access the Cydia Store, which is somewhat like the App Store, only that it provides a wide selection of apps, tools and tweaks not authorized by Apple. Whether you should actually jailbreak your device is not for us to tell you. It’s your choice, and if it helps, we did a post on benefits and demerits of Android rooting and the points (or the concept) are pretty much the same in case of iOS too.

Jailbreaking Your iOS Device Running iOS 6 or Higher

Follow these steps to jailbreak your iOS device. Step 1: Head to the developers’ website and download the evasi0n jailbreak tool (available for Mac, Linux and Windows). Step 2: Backup your iPhone or other iOS device before starting the process. If something goes wrong, you can always restore from your backup. Additionally, disable the lock passcode of your iOS device. Once done, plug it to your computer and open the evasi0n app you just downloaded. Step 3: Your iOS device will be recognized by the application, which will also tell you if it is supported. When you are ready, click on the Jailbreak button. Now sit back and wait for the app to work its magic. If any instruction pops up, just follow it. Step 4: After a while, the app will ask you to unlock your iOS device and to tap on the Jailbreak icon that is now installed on its home screen. Do so and evasi0n will then continue the jailbreak process. Once it is done, the Exit button will show up on the application. Click on it, unplug your iPhone or other iOS device and you’re done! Note: There seems to be a problem with the Weather app on the iPhone after jailbreaking it that causes it to crash. The developers of evasi0n are aware of the bug and will address it on future versions of the app. That’s all there is to it. Just a few simple clicks and now you have an untethered jailbreak on your iOS device running any version of iOS 6. Enjoy!
